Replay Project: Tellage
For my replay project, I completely redid the selection collage project. The original assignment was to scan a number of items that we had in our possession during class. My replay project is a collage of the digital contents of my cell phone. The re-created text version of my phone contains items found in my phone such as contacts, text messages and text about other content (song lyrics, notes, etc).
The center of the image (phone’s screen) contains my contacts, which are unique and close to my phone, the next outer layer are text messages, which show my phone’s connection to my contacts. Other text such as song lyrics on my phone are the outermost layer because they are something that others have. My phone is something that is always on the go with me and the song lyrics on the phone represent this by being quickly typed while listening to songs, so like text messaging, there are typos and some missing words/letters.
Website Parody: Dell
I decided to make a parody website of Dell based on my negative experiences with them from the past.
Here are is a map showing the links between the three parody pages that I created:
art.net #5
Created by Alison Chung-Yan in 2002. There are many different aspects of this art that make different kinds of music. There are many different options to change the speed, and add sounds in some by making new “connections”.
art.net #4
Created by Chris Mann, unknown date. This works similar to the Track Loops with offering continuous loops. There are no musical instruments or sounds; it is all recordings of people talking in interesting accents. The sound bits sound as if they were taken from audio tapes of books. The more dots you click (turn on), the more voices talking and sound like a crowded area of Europeans talking nonsense.
art.net #3
Unknown artist/date. At first this appears to be a simple text2speach tool. Once you enter something for it to say you will see (or hear) that the audio recording of each word is a sound bit from a song. Makes a very interesting sounding output. I enjoyed entering lyrics to songs and hearing what other songs are used to output the lyrics. I even recognized some of the songs that the art uses.
art.net #2
This was made for the Remedi Project (unknown artist/date) and uses onomatopoeia and sound. The small interactive window acts almost like a maze to travel through that has different sounds that you can add to the music playing in the background. The sounds are different depending on the textures you click and how fast you click them.
art.net #1
Loop Tracks was created by Conor O/Boyle (Date not listed). It is an interactive music editor that allows the user to adjust visual tools to add, repeat, and remove loop sounds from a continuous music track. This works similar programs such as abelton Live and Traktor.
